How My Tennis Journey Began
My tennis journey began in my home town of Bladenboro., located in Southeastern North Carolina.
Passionate about tennis from a young age, I began my journey with my dad and a small group, fueled by a love for the game. Back then, professional instruction was a luxury, but the opportunity to watch and play was abundant. My dad laid the foundation, teaching me the basics and the art of hitting the ball. It was pure fun, and my love for tennis was born!
My path led me to Hawaii in 2011, where I earned my USPTA certification. I embarked on my official teaching career at Joint Base Pearl Harbor/Hickam AFB, and from there, I ventured to Germany. Under the mentorship of a former touring professional, I honed my skills, nurturing exceptional talents and instilling a deep passion for tennis in my students. Some went on to play in college, but all of them shared the same love for the game.
Returning home to Southeastern North Carolina, I continued my tennis journey. As a USTA 5.0 rated player and the Assistant Tennis Pro at St. James Plantation, “A place where the amenities are unrivaled and the living is easy, but luxurious.”, I feel blessed every day to be doing what I love. I also extend my instruction to Leland and Southport, working with students of all ages and abilities.
My coaching philosophy revolves around mastering the techniques of tennis strokes, blending science and individual feel. While the science of technique is universal, the feel is unique to each player. I firmly believe that everyone deserves to unlock their body's full potential and connect with the essence of the shots they play."
